Let's Talk · What I'm Reading

Let’s Look! …My Favorite Reads…

It’s Let’s Look with Erika and Shay and today we are talking all about our favorite reads. I have always been a bookworm. My nose has always been stuck in a book and I love reading so much that I have my Masters Degree in reading and reading instruction. Hahaha! But seriously, I love to read. I love all genres and types of books. Here are some of my favorites…

The book that I could not put down or get out of my mind is The Last Mrs. Parrish.

The Sound of Gravel is a book that I just finished. It is a memoir by Ruth Wariner and it haunts you and sticks with you. It is about her life growing up in a cult.

I have loved Bill O’Reilly’s books from his series of “Killing…” books. I have found so much information out about different historical events. I find these books so interesting. “Killing Jesus” and “Killing Kennedy” have been my favorites.

And I love some good chick lit…

The Hating Game

Colleen Hover’s November 9.

I also have my favorite Bible Studies…

Priscilla Shirer’s The Armor of God and Discerning the Voice of God were amazing and I highly recommend each to anyone who is wanting to grow closer to God.

What are your favorite books? What is your favorite genre? Who is your favorite author? If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

  1. Great books! I’m a southern coastal setting girl – I love my books set at the beach so I can imagine I’m there. Authors like Mary Alice Monroe, Dorothea Benton Frank, Mary Kay Andrews, and Kristy Woodson Harvey. I’ll also head north to read Elin Hilderbrand’s books set on Nantucket. Have a super day!

    1. I love Mary Kay Andrews. I am going to have to check out Kristy Woodson Harvey. Thank you so much for the recommendations.

    1. It will stick with you for a long time. It is a longer book, but really easy to read and you get sucked in. Some parts are really hard to get through.

    1. Aren’t those books so good? They are so interesting. Oh the Sound of Gravel crushed me, yet what hope she had! I cannot even imagine. I had to remind myself that it was actually a real story and not fiction throughout the story.

  2. I enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish but actually found it to be quite predictable… I loved how the main character got herself out of a bad situation!

    1. I saw a little of it coming after the book got going but I was hanging onto the edge of my seat the whole time. I really liked that book.

  3. Scott loves the Killing books, he keeps checking another one out from the library! I have been reading the Dugger’s book, I find their family so fascinating 🙂 . Next one I am reading is Eat Cake, Be Brave!

    1. I love the Duggers. Another family that I just love an that fascinates me just is much is the Bates Family, it is another large family.
