What's Up Wednesday

What’s Up Wednesday…January 2019

Happy Wednesday! Today I am linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for one of my favorite link ups, What’s Up Wednesday! It’s such a fun recap of the month and a great way to look into next month. Here is what we have been up and what we are looking forward to…

What we are eating this week…

We have been eating Texas Sheet Cake. YUM!

You can also always check out our meal plans for the week on Sundays, or by clicking here. This week I kept things super simple and tonight is grilled cheese and soup night…one of our favorites!

What I’m reminiscing about…

The kids have been really interested in stories from when Brandon and I first started dating or got married. We were just telling the kids about when Brandon thought it would be fun to teach this snowboarder how to ski and I thought it was a good idea to have him teach me. He thought since I was a pretty good snowboarder that I would be able to ski really easily so he took me down a pretty hard run my first trip and I ended up sitting down on the hill, crying, and ski patrol had to make a stop by. The ski patrol’s advice…”never try teaching your wife how to ski.” I ended up skiing down the mountain, but I never went again. Hahahaha!

What I’m loving…

This body oil gel has been SAVING my dry winter skin. This winter has really dried out my skin and this oil is gold. I started layering it with some Nivea lotion and my skin is finally feeling hydrated again.

What we’ve been up to…

We have had a busy January, we went to a hockey game, went to birthday parties, basketball games, baking, hosting a bible study, playing outside, enjoying the sunrises, so much good stuff!

What I’m dreading…

Nothing!

What I’m working on…

Grants for my classroom, decluttering, Brandon and I’s small group/Bible study, and booking our summer vacation.

What I’m watching/reading…

Brandon and I got sucked into Parks and Rec this month and we just started season 5…I don’t know what I am going to do when we finish. I love Andy!

I also have been reading this book and it is really good. I had to break it into a chapter a day just so I could sit on it for a bit and think about what was being said, but I highly recommend it. You can see what other book I read this month here.

What I’m listening to…

I really like listening to a sermon while I am getting ready for work. If you need some encouragement or want to know how much God loves you, I highly suggest listening to this sermon by Louie Giglio. I was sobbing by the end. It is an hour long, but just add it to your watch list on YouTube and listen to it whenever you can. You won’t regret that hour of time!

What I’m wearing…

I would love to have you join me for my Pin-It/Spin-It on February 20th. Take any pin and add your own spin. You can see my post here. But here is a peek at what I have been wearing…

What I’m doing this weekend…

Maddi has her last basketball tournament of the month and only one more in March. Her season is wrapping up. We are also hopefully going to be able to watch the Super Bowl and eat some yummy appetizers and just relax. I feel like we have been in a little bit of a whirlwind lately and Mama does relish in being busy.

What I’m looking forward to next month…

February is a FUN and FULL month in kindergarten…we have the 100th day of school, Valentine’s Day, Q and U wedding, Read Across America Week is at the very end of the month.

Brandon and I are getting out of town for a weekend just the two of us in February for a little getaway.

Finishing up “You and Me Forever” in our small group.

What else is new…

My recipe for the World’s Best Meatloaf.

My recipe for Cream Cheese Peanut Butter Brownies.

BONUS…My favorite Valentine Day traditions….

Making my family a fun dinner that is their favorites, giving them little treats, and just spending the night together as a family at home.

So what’s up in your world? How was your January? Have a great Wednesday!

  1. Abigail’s hands have been so dry and nothing has worked, so I will definitely try the body oil gel. Why does it always seem like basketball season goes on forever! We have two more weeks left and then a big end of season tournament. Have a great Wednesday.

    1. I really like this oil and I really like goldbond hand cream for hands. Mine get really dry too. I love basketball season, but it does seem to last forever. Maybe because we have been going since October and then our last tournament is in March? Thank goodness for a little break!

  2. I’ve gotta get that book! It’s on my must-read list! Today Nataleigh celebrates her 100th day of Kindergarten, and she’s some kind of excited!

    1. You will love the book. The 100th day is always so exciting. But I have to remind my students that they come back to kindergarten and we have 80 days to go…because sometimes they think they are in first grade after. Hahaha! I hope Nataleigh had a great 100th day!

    1. I love that your kids were asking questions too. My kids go to my old school growing up and have some of the same teachers I had, those teachers love telling them funny stories about me. I just shake my head and deny!

  3. Your January was great! And so busy. I’m excited for you and Brandon to get away for a weekend. We have something EVERY weekend between the girls’ activities, but I’m hoping that we can get away for at least a dinner just us two! Have a great rest of the week.

    1. I hope you and Chris can get away for a dinner too. I am really excited to get away with Brandon for a couple days. That is something I am really excited for!

    1. I loved Lysa’s book. It was so good and so moving. I know that I will turn to it time and time again for pick-me-ups or when I am in the middle of a storm. She did such a great job of writing it and using her story as a message for hope. I love that you and Keith have a similar ski story!
