Thanksgiving · Weekend Recap

Hello, Monday and TBB Asks {Giving Thanks Edition}

Happy Monday!  I am linking up with  HeatherJohannah, and Lindsay for their fun weekly link-up, Hello Monday!

I will keep our weekend recap a little short and then I also am joining up with The Blended Blog to answer some questions about Thanksgiving and Thankfulness.

Friday night we went on a mission to find Maddi some basketball shoes and while we ended up ordering her a pair off of Amazon, we picked Guy Birdly up a new pair of kicks too.

We also went out to dinner and grabbed a burger and fries.

Friday night we played Rummikub. I had to show them how it was done!

Saturday afternoon we ran some errands. Maddi loves helping run errands most days.

Tell me if you think Guy does?!?! Hahahaha!

Saturday afternoon and night we had our friends over for a sleepover.

I needed to refuel so I made myself a peppermint latte. And they shot each other in the head with a NERF gun and a batters helmet. #boys

I taught Preschool Sunday school.

We came home and had some lunch and then the kids rode around the neighborhood on their scooters and bikes.

Maddi started basketball practice. I am so excited for her season to begin.

And we wrapped up our evening eating a yummy dinner of lasagna at our friends home.

Here are my answers to this month’s questions…

Have you ever kept a Gratitude Journal?

Yes, I am so excited for Erin (at Simple Purposeful Living) Daily Journal. You will be able to pre-order her journal and meal planner this Wednesday if you sign up for her e-mail! I am really excited for my gratitude journal to be included with my daily quiet time and all in one book!

Hosting Thanksgiving at your house?

I love hosting Thanksgiving at our home!

Favorite food at Thanksgiving dinner?

The turkey and stuffing and homemade rolls and I don’t know if I ever met a Thanksgiving food that I didn’t love. Ok this is kind of funny, I did not grow up eating mac and cheese as a side dish at Thanksgiving and didn’t realize how common it is until I was an adult. I still don’t serve it.

What is one thing in nature I am most grateful for?

The mountains and rivers around my house!

Pumpkin pie…yes or no…

YES! But I also prefer Pumpkin Cheesecake the most!

Traditional cookbook…yes or no…

Yes, I have a love for cookbooks!

Oven baked turkey or deep-fried turkey?

Oven baked and brined!

Thanksgiving leftovers…yes or no…

All. the. day. long. The best part of hosting his how much leftovers we get even after we send people home with them as well!

What is one household product I am most grateful for?

Candles! They bring me joy!

Are you most grateful for homecooked meals or restaurant meals?

I am most grateful for homecooked meals. I love feeding people!

Thank you so much for reading today! I Hope you have a great start to your week.

  1. We don’t traditionally have Mac and cheese either but my students seem to all have it. We do a Thanksgiving conversation and most say it’s their fave food at Thanksgiving!

    1. I was so shocked when I heard people had it with their Thanksgiving and it is pretty common today after reading through responses. I love that you do that with your students as a conversation starter!

  2. I am so glad you love cookbooks too. And yes, turkey and stuffing, the BEST!! That is one of my favorite pictures of Maddi in her BB sweatshirt! Happy Monday sweets!

    1. I love cookbooks. I am always looking for new ones. I really do like the classics though (Betty Crocker and Better Homes and Gardens) even if they only have one recipe I use out of them, I can’t get rid of them!

  3. Oh, what a wonderful weekend you had, and how exciting that Maddi is starting her basketball season! I can’t wait to follow along. We’re excited to host Thanksgiving here, too! I don’t get too many opportunities to do so since we are usually taking the time to visit our families, but Ryan’s parents are coming this year, and I can’t wait to make our feast! Plus, there’s something so special about gathering around your own table. Happy Monday!!!

    1. YAY! I am so excited for you that you get to host Thanksgiving. I agree, there is something so special about hosting at your own home and around your own table. What a special year for you all!

  4. We’re doing a small Thanksgiving this year … BUT as my mom said, there will be no dishes missing from the regular line-up! (LEFTOVERS for years! LOL!) When you mentioned mac ‘n’ cheese for Thanksgiving I kind of had to scratch my head for a minute … I have never heard of that , but maybe it’s just not a midwest thing. Have you started planning what dishes you’ll be making this year? Also, I can guarantee that we won’t be having pumpkin pie because we don’t like pumpkin! 🙂

    1. I love that your family has a regular line up, we do too. One of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is the leftovers. I have never had mac and cheese at Thanksgiving either but lot’s of people do. I thought it was just a southern thing, but I almost think I am in the minority in not having it as a side.
