Spice Cake

Oh how I love fall foods and this spice cake is full of fall flavors, while being super light and moist, and all good things that cakes are! Have you ever made a homemade cake without a box? It’s super simple. The applesauce in this cake makes everything moist and delicious!

You will need…

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teason baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of clove
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup water
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

Cream Cheese Frosting
1 stick (1/2 cup) room temperature butter
8 oz block of cream cheese (room temperature)
3-4 cups of powdered  sugar

Preheat your oven to 350 and grease a 9×13″ pan.

Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, clove and pumpkin pie spice in a bowl.

Mix together sugar, oil, applesauce, water and eggs until they just come together.

Add dry ingredients. And mix on medium-high speed for two minutes.

Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the pan comes out clean.

For frosting, whisk together the butter and cream cheese on high speed. Add powdered sugar until well combined and stiff. Adding more sugar as needed.

Let the spice cake cool and then frost. Enjoy!
