Labor Day Weekend Recap

This weekend was the perfect weekend to have a long weekend. We had just wrapped up our first week of school and it was so nice to be at home and relaxing with my favorite people. We squeezed in a whole lot of fun this weekend…

Friday night we had some friends over for BBQ’ed burgers and card games. We were all having so much fun that I didn’t get any pictures, but the kids ran around playing laser tag, and we played Apples to Apples and Chase the Ace.

Saturday morning I watched The Pioneer Woman and sipped coffee.

Brandon and I also mowed our church’s lawn and celebrated said mowing with Starbucks. I can’t stop the PSL train once I start.

Brandon and I then came home and did our own yard work. The mornings have been nice and cool.

Saturday afternoon we went to Bath and Body Works and shopped candles…is there anything hotter?!?! NOPE!

Then we went out to dinner to celebrate the first week of school.

We also took a little mountain drive and Guy got to see both a new combine and a tractor and the boy was in heaven.

We wrapped up the night with the last episode of Family Matters (we have been watching it since February) and I made cookies for church the next morning.

Brandon and I taught Sunday School on Sunday.

We came home and I meal planned and wrote our grocery list.

Brandon and I went to Costco and WalMart to stock up on groceries.

We pretty much spent the rest of the night playing Spoons.

Hooray for long weekends! Monday morning I was able to sit outside and read my Bible and journal.

I made a chicken pot pie for dinner.

And while I was making dinner Brandon and the kids were digging out our camping equipment.

We spent the rest of the night playing Spoons, packing lunches, and relaxing.

I hope you had a great weekend. Did you do anything fun? Happy Tuesday!

  1. So is there some camping in your near future? If so – awesome! My husband likes to smell all the candles and tell me what I should get – luckily we tend to like the same things! I wish you a wonderful school week!

  2. We having played Spoons in awhile. I know what you mean, I’ve had myself 4 PSL’s Since they came out, lol.

  3. I couldn’t agree more about it being the perfect timing for a long weekend. It was very much needed over here. With school starting and me covering for a co-worker for 3 weeks we were exhausted!! Sounds like a great weekend for you guys. I’m jealous of that PSL you got! There wasn’t a Starbucks anywhere near us this weekend or I would have had one myself. Which candles did you get from Bath and Body Works? Fun! Do you guys have a camping trip coming up?

    1. It was perfect timing for the long weekend. I am not going to know what to do with myself come next week when it is a five day week. ha! Bummer about the PSL, I hope you get one soon! I got Crisp Morning Air, Flannel, Pumpkin Patch and a couple of others! I had to stock up!

  4. You really seem to have cracked that balance between family time – husband date time with a little bit of ‘me time’ in between – while still getting so much done! I have no idea what the spoon game is though – you must enlighten me ! J 🙂

    1. I love having a weekly date night. The night might change throughout the week depending on our schedule and sometimes it’s just to go get a drink, but it is time away for just the two of us. Spoons is so fun, you have to try and get four of the same cards and grab a spoon before the last one is picked up (kind of like musical chairs). It is so fun and gets a little wild!
