A Look Back at 2017

How have I not shared our 2017?!?! Here is a look back…

We had a ton of snow last January. Guy snowboarded, both kids were in basketball, and Guy and I got new haircuts.

We had more snow in February, Maddi was in the Presidents Day assembly, we celebrated Valentine’s Day and had some good family time.

In March we celebrated Maddi’s Birthday, Read Across America week, had more snow, played outside, Maddi was in a play, we puppy sat, Guy and Maddi both played soccer, and spring arrived along with time outside.

April was B-U-S-Y. We had Spring Break, enjoyed outside time, got our garden boxes built and planted, we had baseball and soccer, we also enjoyed our County Fair. We had a fun Easter and the weather started to get sunnier.

We read a lot of books in May, played more baseball, had our sights on summer and spent a lot of time outside and together as a family. We celebrated Mother’s Day, Guy graduated from Kindergarten, and we went for family walks and bike rides.

In June we lived our best summer life. Maddi finished 3rd Grade, Guy finished Kindergarten, we went to the circus, we went to the movies, we went to Seattle, we spent our days at the movies, riding bikes, playing outside, growing our garden, playing with friends at the park and loving this season.

We celebrated the 4th of July, we went to the movies and to the pool, we went to the library, made mud pies and slim, we had lazy mornings and late nights, we watched Big Brother as a family and we also went on vacation to Oregon. Harvest started and we knew summer was dying down.

In August the kids and I took a little trip together. We did some school shopping and Guy hated every second. My grandparents celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary, we spent a lot of time inside because it was too hot or too smokey outside. We went to Silverwood for the day with our cousins and Maddi hated the roller coasters, we watched the eclipse and we went back to school.

Friday Night Lights returned, my garden was in full force, Guy started flag football and I won an award through ESPN Radio, WSECU and the Seattle Mariners where I got to go watch a game in a suite as well as meet Rick Rizz (the voice of the Mariners). We worked on building Maddi’s steers pen and it was smokey outside because of wildfires all around the state of Washington.

In October we carved pumpkins, dressed up as Panthers and Koo Koo Kangaroo, went trick-or-treating, and to a Haunted Forest. We went to more football games, had a record breaking Fund Run at our school, and spent a lot of time outside enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. Guy also had several flag football games.

In November we got Harold, Maddi started basketball, Taylor Swift dropped our new favorite album that was the source of so many dance parties, and we also ran into Santa and Mrs. Claus at Home Depot. We went to the movies with our cousins, and we hosted Thanksgiving, followed by decorating for Christmas.

Sweet December, we had holiday parties every weekend from Thanksgiving through Christmas. We had Christmas concerts and basketball tournaments, we took care of Harold. My favorite part of December was having a group of first grade boys over to decorate Christmas cookies for the Grandparents Tea in their classroom that week.

Now the first month of 2018 is already over half way over. I am so excited to see what lies ahead for my little family this year. We have already had our fair share of struggles to over come, sickness in the family, and a loss of someone near and dear to us. We are keeping God front and center this year. We are ready to embrace this year and focus on God, family, and friends. I hope your 2018 is off to a great start.

  1. 2018 was off to a rough start for so many of us. But I am praying that big and exciting things are in the near future. It was so fun to look back on your last year.

    1. Cheers to a great start to 2018 and exciting things happening to all of us! If anything, the start of 2018 has made me realize to focus on the present and my little family of 4!
