Monthly Goals

October Goals

Monthly goals are kind of my jam, I love them. I love them so much and I love sharing them because I actually end up being somewhat successful at crossing things off my list. Sorry for the cuss word, but this is such a great little quote for goals.

Before I jump into October Goals, let me recap September goals…

  • Walk to school 2 x’s/week. At the beginning of the month it was in the 100’s/90’s. Last week it finally started to cool down so we walked a couple of days and the kids have been walking home. This goal was a bust but we are ready to try again next month.
  • No repeat dinners (minus pizza Fridays) This was such a fun goal. We tried new recipes each week and really got out of our slump. I am really hoping to carry this goal over into next month as well. You can always check out our meal plans on Sunday here at the blog. I like sharing them because not only do I love getting meal ideas from others, but also I like looking back to see what we have eaten.

Meal Planning

  • Leave work with an empty desk. Done and done. I love a clean and organized area and I love it even more the next morning when I am not putting things away from the day before.img_6692
  • Post a new recipe each week. I almost got 100% on this goal. I have the pictures taken and the recipe written, but I just never posted it. AHHH! I need to upload the pictures and it will be up Saturday…it is a keeper!
  • Stick to my grocery budget I feel like I quit shopping at Costco each week and that saved on our budget. I didnt go over but I didn’t have any extra either!
  • Decorate home for fall…have kids help. Done…minus the outside which we will complete this weekend. Yay for fall!

Now onto October..

  • Finish Christmas shopping…mostly…I hope to finish up all of my Christmas shopping besides stocking stuffers and exchange gifts. This leaves me all the time in the world to wrap them in November and enjoy the Christmas season without much thought to buying or wrapping…plus beating the crowds is worth it!
  • Leave work on time. September is an overwhelming month at work…getting back into the new routine and such. I find myself staying later and later but it is almost needed that first month. I also find myself getting to meetings (like PTO or our Ed Foundation) about an hour earlier just so I can work in my classroom. My feet are under me so I feel like I can start leaving as soon as I can in the afternoons and not get into the habit of staying later.
  • Start planning/prepping Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is tied with Christmas as my favorite day of the year. We host at our house and have several people over and I LOVE every single second. I like having a game plan and prepping as much as I can in advance. I am so looking forward to planning Thanksgiving!
  • Walk 4 x’s /week. The first week of school I rocked working out. I did it every single day and then Labor Day happened and I just quit. I need to get back into that habit. Leaving work on time is going to free up some afternoon time and I can’t wait to get back into working out and walking.
  • Blog social media…Pintrest/Facebook. I am really feeling ready to set up some blog social media. Any tips or advice? Which platforms work for you?
  • Blog goals for second year. My first “blogiversary” is coming up this month! I am SO excited and have learned so much this year. I love this little space and this creative outlet. I really want to sit down and reflect on the year as well as set up some goals for next year. I feel like I kind of jumped into this blindly and now want to dig a little deeper. Any tips or advice for this? What goals do you have for your blog?

As always, thank you so much for reading! I am so excited to see what fun and exciting things the month of October has in store. What goals do you have for the month of October?

  1. I am so jealous that you will be done with all of your Christmas shopping by the end of October! I haven’t even started thinking about Christmas shopping. Maybe I should set that as a goal too πŸ™‚ please share any tips you get on how to get your blog out there on social media. I really hope to start blogging more next month.

    1. I will let you know what I learn! πŸ™‚ I am so hesitant for social media. I don’t know why, but I am. I think it would be a good way to connect with more people though. I am anxious to see what happens.

  2. I feel like we are in such a dinner slump – I should really try hard to not repeat recipes besides pizza friday of course! I love having Christmas shopping done early too for those same reasons!

    1. It was so awesome to not repeat. I don’t know if it was coming off of the August…too hot to eat much and dinner was just a scattered mess or if it was all the change but I really enjoyed this month’s meals and hope to do the same next month! It got me out of a slump. But I will not mess with pizza Friday! πŸ™‚ Long live pizza Friday!

  3. Starting a page on Facebook for your blog is a great idea. Although, unless you have loads of friends, be prepared for it to grow slowly and don’t let that discourage you. Everyone’s grows slowly. As far as Pinterest goes, I just converted my personal one over for the blog. No need to separate them.

Great job on your goals. That heat ruined a lot of peoples plans!

  4. I feel the same way with the blog, I have to really reflect and think about what I want to do and where I want it to go. It’s been a roller coaster but the friendships and bonds I have made are the best part!!! xoxo ERIN. PS budgets love-hate relationship here πŸ˜‰

    1. I have learned so much this year blogging and cannot wait to learn more as this second year kicks off and just reflect and plan ahead for next year. You are right, the friendships and bonds have been the best part!

  5. Your goals posts are one of my favorites! I think because we are so much alike so I get all these great ideas from you on things I also should be focusing on. My takeaway from your October goals…get my xmas shopping done! I’ve NEVER started before Thanksgiving before and I can only imagine how much more you enjoy the month of December not having to stress about presents!

    1. Lol! Tara you make me laugh because I feel like a hot random mess of goals. Get it done because it feels SO good to be done! Then you just get to enjoy everything and not stress out. Also, there is so many random expenses that just pop up or that we forget to plan for during that time so it also helps with the budget that month! Love ya!

    1. You do have a lot on your plate and a lot of celebrating coming up. I try really hard to be all the way done by November so I can wrap, wrap, wrap! πŸ™‚ I love when everyone is asleep and I can turn on a Hallmark Christmas movie, drink my tea and wrap πŸ™‚

  6. I’m impressed that this is only your first year blogging! My pinterest started out being personal but I just connected it to my blog. On facebook I have a separate page for my blog.

    1. Thank you so much for these tips! Did you just create a page for your blog through your personal Facebook page or did you create a completely different account? I am so torn on what to do!

  7. I love reading goals, yay for walking to school. Technically our school is walking distance, but it’s mostly up hill…ugh. hehe. Yay for doing new recipes, I need to use my Instant Pot more. We went on so many long weekends towards the end of September our eating went out the window, hoping to fix that, it NEEDs to get fixed, hehe. Happy almost Blogiversary!
