Weekend Recap

Labor Day Weekend Recap…on a Tuesday!

Hello! Before I begin my recap, I wanted to say thank you so much to Johannah. She is featuring me on her blog today (you can see the post here). Thank you so much! And thanks for checking it out.

This Labor Day weekend was pretty boring and laid back and included naps, lots of naps, and lots of binge watching The Office and staying in our P.J.’s. We were all wiped out after our first week of school and downtime was much needed by all.  I don’t have much of a recap for you, so I thought I would share our highlights.

Friday’s are known as Foodie Fun Friday in my kindergarten class and on the first Friday of the year we made Friendship Salad. We mixed in all the fruit, whipped cream and marshmallows and then I told the kids we were going to add our super secret ingredients…rotten bananas. They screamed and were totally grossed out…then we talked about how sometimes our behavior is like a rotten banana, everything is good, but one banana can make it all rotten (not listening, not being a good friend, interrupting). We then added the “good bananas”.

We also went to the home opener football game on Friday night.

Saturday morning was full of coffee and Hart of Dixie.

We also went grocery shopping on Saturday and the kids brought their own money and each bought a toy. Guy was stuck on a Nerf gun but ended up changing his mind for some remote control cars and Maddi picked out a pottery wheel and some clay and paints.

I made some yummy cookies on Sunday.

And Brandon made us yummy Gin and Tonics. SO good!

Yesterday Guy had a friend over and Maddi and I played with her pottery wheel.

And then it was time for homework. Guy has worked so hard on his handwriting and has his first spelling test on Friday.

We have a fun and full week ahead. I will see you back here tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you had a great weekend.

  1. Love the friendship salad. Such a great way to kick off the year with your kiddos. True story, I have never had a Gin Tonic but I am very intrigued about how one tastes. I hope you have a great “Monday”.

  2. I can’t wait to read your guest post 🙂 YAY! I hope the smoke isn’t too bad in your area these days. THose cookies look delicious and you can’t beat a refreshing adult cocktail on the long weekend. I LOVED Hart of Dixie. I miss that show! Xoxo ERIN

    1. I am loving Hart of Dixie but I am so frustrated with the whole Wade/George limbo I am watching in Season 2…commit Zoey! Hahaha! The smoke is horrible. I feel so bad for all the people who have to work outside.

  3. Woohoo! I’m glad I’m not the only mom who makes the kids buy toys with their own money! I think it makes the toys a little more special to the kids since they had to work hard to save. Love your friendship salad!

    1. I do teach there and I love it because we are pretty much on identical schedules. I have to work some extra days, but I LOVE being able to see them at school or have them stop in and hug me. I love being able to see them interact with friends and get a peek into their day.
