Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap…

Happy Monday! Today I am linking with two of my favorites, Johannah and Heather.. Today is a big day! It’s my Dad’s Birthday and the eclipse (we get to see it 97% totality). Today is my last day of summer break before heading back for meetings and trainings for the rest of the week. I plan on hanging out at home today, watching the eclipse, getting a little organized for the next couple of weeks, hopefully finishing all my laundry, and doing a little cleaning all while hanging out with my kiddos and enjoying the last day together and trying not to cry (working mom guilt). Here is a look at our weekend…

Friday morning I had to take my car to the dealership and have a recall fixed. I was able to have 1 hour of reading. PLUS Brandon and I were able to have lunch together.

That afternoon the kids and I picked out Birthday presents for their friends. They each had parties to go to this weekend.

And then I spent the afternoon cleaning. Nothing says wonderful quite like a clean home and especially a clean sink.

While Maddi was at her friend’s birthday party, Guy and I grilled homemade pizza.

My favorite is a margherita pizza…EVOO, garden fresh basil and tomatoes and just a little bit of cheese. The things my Friday night dreams are made of.

Saturday morning was spent in my garden with some coffee.

Saturday was full of grocery shopping, meal planning, week planning, watching The Office, cleaning, and hanging out.

Sunday morning started off at 6:30 with a little coffee and yogurt curled up under a blanket and watching The Office.

Guy had a Birthday party to get to first thing. It was a Nerf gun party, talk about the perfect party for active 6 and 7 year old boys.

While Guy was at his party, Brandon and I went out for our Anniversary breakfast at our favorite new coffee shop. I got the breakfast sandwich on a jalapeno bagel…it was soooo good.

Sunday was spent playing farm and trucks.

It was the perfect afternoon/evening to play a little basketball outside while Brandon and I mowed.

And then we ended the night watching Big Brother.

I hope you all had a great weekend. Just like that, summer break is over. Can I just say though, I feel like we are actually going to be slowing down now. It is a good feeling to know that routine is coming, the upcoming weekends will be spent at home with my little family, harvest is ending, and I am looking forward to being home more. These are the days. Happy Monday!

  1. Summer just goes by entirely way too fast. That jalapeno bagel sandwich looks amazing. I hope y’all had a fun time celebrating yesterday!

    1. We did! I was just happy to have Brandon home for the weekend (no harvest…YAY!) and it was like a “normal” weekend which was such a nice change 🙂 Nothing big or flashy but lots of time together which is just what we all needed…and a yummy breakfast. Hope you had a fun time celebrating your Anniversary this weekend as well!

  2. Happy Anniversary! I love that you celebrate every year with breakfast. I hope you have a great day at home with your kiddos. You are an amazing mom and your students are SO LUCKY to get you as their teacher :). We will be watching the eclipse here too with our special glasses ;). xoxo ERIN

    1. Enjoy the eclipse! I was way to late in getting glasses but we made three different kinds of viewers and are excited to test them all out and see which one works the best! 🙂 #nerdalert. I am really excited to get the chance to meet my new kiddos and their families. Thanks for the kind words!

  3. I want to hear more about this Nerf gun party!? Like was it just a free for all or were there certain things set up to do? I think my son would love that next year!! I hope you enjoy your last day!!

    1. I wish I would have take pictures. They had a game field roped off and big tires to hide in at a peak so the kids could go play. One of the grandma’s made Rambo style camp headbands and pouches for the bullets. They couldn’t shoot each other in the face but that was pretty much the rules. It was so much fun. The kids could bring their own guns or they had extras. Every little bouts dreams!

  4. I hope you guys had a wonderful anniversary!! I am so jealous that you have a 97% totality! We have 78%. I’ve made my viewer and I’m ready for the eclipse to start. Have a great Monday. 🙂

    1. Thank you! We made out viewers too and I hope they work. We are going to try a few different ones so hopefully one is good… because silly me for thinking that I would be able to get glasses last week! Lol!

    1. Thank you! I was expecting close to darkness with that much totality and it was like a cloud had loved in front of the sun. Still really neat though and it gave off a really cool gray color.

  5. The view at your house is AMAZING! I’m super jealous. Recall stink. I’m glad I’m not the only one with them. And our eclipse glasses are out and it should be in our area soon! I’m excited about seeing it!

  6. So much goodness before the routine sets in. Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to your daddy!! Ahhh how I miss playing farm and trucks. Good luck this week pretty lady!!

    1. Thank you so much! I am really excited to meet my families and kiddos. Maddi and Guy also are getting really excited to see their friends and use their new supplies! 🙂 Routine is good!

  7. Happy Anniversary! That breakfast looks so yummy! And I’ll have to take note of that nerf gun party. My almost 7 yr old just might live that for his! Hope you’re having a good week back to work. It’s always a little bittersweet!
