A Day in the Life…{Summer 2017 Edition}

Happy Tuesday. Stephanie has the best idea, to do a Day in the Life post each season. I love reading these posts and thought I would share our Monday with you. I try really hard to wake up at the same time each morning (during the week) and go to bed at the same time as the school year. I have found this to really help me when school starts back up…my first summer it was ROUGH to get back into school after staying up until midnight and sleeping in. My kids had spent the night at my parents house so I had a quiet morning to myself on this day. Here we go…

While  my Keurig is starting, I check my blog to make sure it is posted and then if I need to I link-up.

I made Brandon a lunch and drank my coffee. During the school year I make everyone’s lunches the night before but during the summer I just don’t feel like it so it always waits until the morning.

Once Brandon leaves for work I read my favorite blogs and also work on my posts for about an hour.

I also have my quiet time.

I went for a walk at 6:30 this particular morning. Usually I go before Brandon leaves or when he is home in the afternoons…or I just go on our treadmill. It was beautiful outside. We have had problems with smoke lately (wildfires in Canada and surrounding areas). I was so grateful it was clear enough to go for a walk outside.

Not a bad way to start the morning with this many steps, I really feel like getting my workout in during the morning sets me up for success for the rest of the day. I will miss these morning walks during the school year.

As I was walking in the door from my walk Brandon called and told me that I needed to jump in my car right away and take it to a window repair shop (I had a rock hit my window the night before and crack it). The repair shop was able to get me in right away so I took off.

After getting my window fixed (it took 10 minutes) I dropped some books off at the library.

I also signed Guy up for Flag Football this fall.

And then I went and spent a couple of hours in my classroom. I am not officially done setting everything up and will probably stop in every now and again to keep adding finishing touches to my room. Any other teachers feel like they are never 100% ready?!?!

I came home for a yummy salad lunch.

My mom and sister had taken the kids school clothes shopping so I gladly removed tags and the kids showed me their clothes.

I made the kiddos lunch and then cleaned the kitchen.

At 1:00 the kids turned on the TV and watched Bunked while I did a little professional development and had a homemade iced coffee.

Then at 4 I caught up on my favorite show.

Dinner was leftover chinese food (from date night).

And then it cooled off enough to play outside. Maddi made a “kite” out of a balloon.

We spent the rest of the evening playing cars and watching The Brady Bunch.

When I went to bed I felt pretty accomplished with my steps and activity for the day….

And I ended the day by working on this blog post and watching Friends in bed.

It is fun to think that my next Day in the Life post will be during the fall (if it can’t be summer year round, at least I have fall to look forward to). I hope you had a great Monday.

    1. I am glad I am not alone…even though they are little things. I am going to miss mornings the most when school starts. It seems like we hit the ground running during the school year. I love seeing how people structure their days too. I hope you have a great day Erin!

    1. I like going in and just working a little at a time too. It’s not so overwhelming to me that way, and I get to move at my own pace. I would hate not being able to work on it all summer. I would be stressed out. When the teacher dreams start coming, I know I need to get in my room 🙂

    1. Me too! Unless it is during the school year, but if I don’t go as soon as I get home from work it is REALLY hard for me to get motivated to go. The struggle is real!

    1. I don’t like this idea, I LOVE this idea! 🙂 I live in Washington State. I cannot wait to look back and see what we were doing throughout the years. I already have loved looking back through this year and seeing everything. Great idea!
