Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap…Low Key Edition

Happy Monday. As always, I am linking with my ladies, Heather and Johannah for their Hello, Monday link-up. Anyone else count their weekends starting on Friday? I don’t know why I always do. Even during the school year. It’s weird, I’m sure.

Friday started with some fun. We met Brandon for lunch and got gumballs from the kids favorite gumball machine in town.

Next we swung by my classroom. I haven’t been all summer and I wanted to see if I had gotten my new TV installed. In about 2 minutes, Guy and Maddi had made a hide out spot.

We made it home in time for the kids to have some quiet time. They watched America’s Funniest Home Videos while I worked on Saturday’s blog post…Banana Nut Muffins.

The rest of the day was for yard work, house cleaning, and watching Nashville.

Saturday started with watering my flowers and coffee.

I made some chocolate chip zucchini bread.

It was SO hot during the middle of the day that we beat the heat inside by watching some TV and reading. When it cooled down enough the kiddos ran through the sprinklers, jumped on the trampoline, and made mud pies.

We even ate dinner outside.

Sunday morning I slept in until 8 and it was BLISS! I unloaded the dishwasher, scrubbed the bathroom and then decided to go for a run. I usually don’t run on Sundays but I am trying to get my 50 miles in. It was HOT and I got in a 5K that had me on the struggle bus to finish.

When I got home the kiddos asked me if I had been running through the sprinklers or if I was sunburnt?!?! NO! Just hot and sweaty!

We stayed inside the rest of the day, laundry, cleaning, Go Fish, UNO, and taking it easy. I loved being home this weekend with no plans. We have been gone or had  major plans each weekend this summer so it was nice to just do whatever we wanted to do, whenever we wanted to do it. Thank you so much for reading today! I hope you have a great start to your week!

  1. That’s exactly how I felt this weekend and the last one too….so happy to just be at home after a pretty busy summer so far. Way to go on the run!

    1. I was so happy to have some time at home. My kids didn’t ask what we were doing one single time this weekend so I think they were excited to be home too! LOL! Hope you week is off to a great start!

  2. Looks like a perfect weekend! I love that they made mud pies. I went to my classroom one time before vacation but turned around and left because I was overwhelmed. This week my goal is to get in there and get it organized! Happy Monday!

    1. I am just not quite ready to be in there a whole bunch right now. Hahahaha! Which is not like me. My kids love going so that is good. Good luck getting into your room and getting it organized. When you are done you are welcome to come help me!!!

  3. Great job girl! Your 50 mile goal is nothing short of impressive I have only been logging about 8 or 9 miles a week this month, but that is just with two runs, lololol! I hope your Monday gets off to a great start!

  4. We had a super low key weekend too, we needed it! We always seem to be going, going, going…big thing we did this weekend we had dinner with my aunt and uncle. then we did nothing around the house. Well I did lots, but relatively speaking, we stayed in and I got stuff done around the house.

    1. That sounds like a great weekend too me! Sometimes we all need a low key weekend just to feel caught up. I feel like this summer we have been on the go more than not and need the school year to start so we can slow down a little. Hahahaha! Glad you all had a great low key weekend as well!

  5. I get so red after working out and I’m all hot and sweaty too! Mud pies and eating outside; 2 great things about summer! Now, I am wishing I had one of your chocolate chip zucchini muffins! Happy Monday beautiful lady!

    1. I do not know how people look so calm and relaxed and graceful during their runs. I look like a tomato that is going to die at any minute! Hahahaha! I am also fairly certain that people can hear me coming with my heavy breathing. LOL!

  6. Sounds like a great week! I am a struggling runner myself, and I look the part too! Red, sweaty and near death by the time I am done. 🙂 Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread, yes please! You should do a recipe post, sounds delicious! I love all things zucchini bread! jenonajourney.com

  7. 50 miles?! You go, girlfriend!! I wish I was a runner! I have major tendonitis in my knees and running even for a few minutes makes them swell up and hurt for 3 months. It is pretty frustrating. 🙁

    1. Your weekend looked amazing too, celebrating that sweet boy! I feel like we have been on-the-go all summer and so it was nice to be home this weekend. Have a great start to your week! I hope you get some rest 🙂

  8. I want a piece of that chocolate chip at zucchini bread! I am not big on the zucchini but chocolate chip anything sounds wonderful. Haha. And this heat is brutal! Today offered some relief thankfully. Hope you all have a good week!

  9. Way to go on that 5K! I’m struggling this past week, but I’ve packed my sneakers for St. Louis and will try to get a few runs in. Love that the kids make mud pies! You are a fun mom- I’m the “No, don’t touch anything!” lady! Hope you all have a great week ahead!
