Summer Bucket List 2017

Our summer break might be a couple of weeks away but that does not mean that summer fun can’t start now! Does anyone else consider Memorial Day weekend the kick off to all things summer fun? The kids and I sat down and created our Bucket List. We have done this for a couple of years now and love checking off our boxes.

Some of these ideas take some planning, some of these ideas are spur of the moment, most are cheap while others take some budgeting. Let’s take a look at our list…

Here are some tips and tricks from our list…

  • Movies: In the summer our movie theater has a matinee series that runs all summer long. They partner with the schools and offer sheets of 9 tickets for $5. The kids and I LOVE doing this. Check your local movie theater for summer deals.
  • Pool: Our local pool/water park offers some great family night promotions and we try to go during that time. The best part, we usually bring our own dinner and picnic while there.
  • Chopped/Cupcake Wars: My kiddos love this! This is always some of their favorite activities over summer. They love cooking in the kitchen with me.
  • Bowling: If your kids would like bowling, STOP what you are doing and CLICK THIS LINK. You can sign your kiddos up for FREE BOWLING each day. Sign-up is super easy and quick and you get your tickets e-mailed to you each Sunday. This is perfect when the temps are HOT and we need a little outing for the day.
  • Berry picking: We go every year. Berries stay frozen for a year. We love blackberries and huckleberries. YUMMY!

You can find my Blackberry Buckle {A Coffee Cake} here!

  • Cover
  • Kids cook dinner: My kids love doing this. Over Spring Break they made us spaghetti and they are already planning a taco bar.

  • Library: Our local libraries offer great incentives to read all summer long. They also have fun projects and entertainment all summer such as magic shows, The Reptile Man, and they offer fun weekly prizes for weekly reading goals. Check with your local library to see if they offer a summer program. My kids are older (9 and 6) and this program is fun for them.

There are some of our plans on our bucket list. This little list gets the kids all sorts of excited for summer and it is really great for those days when you feel like you are in a slump or need to get out.

My Bucket List includes…

  • Hosting a ladies night/game night
  • Reading…reading…reading…
  • Binge watch a couple of shows on Netflix in my pajamas all day (just being honest)

We have a pretty basic summer planned. I cannot wait for slow mornings, fun afternoons and later nights. I hope I was able to give you some ideas for your own summer bucket list.

    1. Thank you Tanya! We are pretty excited for all the fun! I am mostly excited for slower mornings and being able to sip my coffee outside and watch Live with Kelly! Hahaha! 🙂

    1. We love a good list 🙂 I also love seeing what other people have planned during the summer. I am just happy that you are all home now and everything is good. How scary!

  1. Love your momma list and I need to check into that bowling thing, so cool. We have that same matinee series at our movie theater, I just have to think about Lucy ;). When does your summer break start????

    1. Our last day of school is the 8th. I love the matinee series, but yes, I agree about thinking about Lucy. The bowling thing is really fun, and a good way to beat the heat or just get out of the house (which usually happens around late July/early August). Ha!

  2. We did kids cook dinner for the first time last summer and it was a HUGE hit. We also have Kids Skate free. It’s one of our summer favorites.

    1. Kids Skate Free sounds like so much fun. I am going to have to look into any thing like that around here. We have one skating rink and it was the same one I went to and I am pretty sure everything is the exact same as when I was there…including the giant pickles in the jar at the concession stand! Ha! Hope you are having a great weekend!
