A Day in the Life…{Spring Edition}

Hello! I just love reading day in the life posts and thought it might be fun to do one each season or quarterly. Here is my Spring Edition of what a day in the life looks like.

Our alarm goes off at 4:30 but waking up can be struggle this is when I opened my eyes and decided to drag myself out of bed.

The first thing I do is post my blog and link up to any link-ups for this day. This post was a weekend recap.

My Keurig is on an auto-on so it is ready for me after my blog!

After getting ready for work (around 5:45) I swap the laundry over and fold a load and put it away if I can. If it is kid’s clothes then I wait until the kiddos are awake. After laundry I have my quiet time followed by reading of other blogs.

I wake the kiddos up around 6:30 and then head outside to check my plants.

Next I come in and make my bed and get dressed for the day.

I also unload last night’s dishes while I get breakfast.

And make sure that our lunches are ready to go and backpacks are loaded and the kiddos have their coats.

My breakfast is a burnt piece of toast that the kids wont eat #momlife #notworththefight and a Chobani flip. I love the coconut or the key lime.

Once we get to school I go over some end of the year assessments that I need to give this year, write our morning message, and read through my lesson plans.

We started our last unit in math today. This unit focuses on subtraction so we used unifix cubes to help model and played a partner game. It was pretty fun.

Our read aloud in class has been “Little House in the Big Woods” and so far the kids LOVE it.

We also painted an octopus head for an art project.

After school I had an IEP meeting and I left school close to 2 hours after my time to leave and I didn’t get much done for today.

As soon as I got home I talked with the kids and asked about their days, while writing in their reading logs and making sure I checked their folders all while making dinner and talking with Brandon about his day. We had homemade alfredo and garlic bread.

After 45 minutes at home I left for another meeting that started at 6.

I made it home JUST in time to tuck these little cuties in at 8:00.

After saying prayers and tucking in I loaded the dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen up a bit.

I got lunches packed for Tuesday.

Then washed my face.

I then thought our bathroom counters needed cleaned so I did that and wiped down the light switches and other surfaces.

Finally at 9:00 I sat down to zone out and type this blog post up. It was a crazy day, but a good one. This afternoon will be “normal” and I can’t wait to just come home with the kiddos after work. It is also supposed to be rainy and cold so I am thinking we might just snuggle in for the night. Thanks for reading today!

  1. What a busy day! Good for you for getting up so much earlier than you need to to get stuff done! I get up that early because I go to work that early else I would be sleeping in as last as I could! I love these posts too.

    1. I am such a weirdo Sarah! Ha! I have a hard time going back to sleep after the alarm clock goes off. I do like sleeping in on the weekends and sometimes I can catch a quick nap. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Shew!! I need a break after reading that. Those non-stop days are so good for reminding us how great the calmer days of the year are. Glad you have a ‘normal’ day today, which I’m sure of plenty of busyness too!

  3. I love these day in the life posts! I think it’s because I am so nosey! haha I wish I could get more done in the mornings before I leave for work, but I can’t get myself up any earlier than I already do! ha! =)

    1. I love them too Johannah! They are some of my favorites to read on other’s blogs. I love seeing how people structure their time and their days. It is always fun to read about. I have to warm up (get up early and get ready without talking) before I start talking to people…or no one would want to be around! Hahahaha!

  4. You are one busy mama! I’m sure you hear this lots…”I don’t know how you do it all.” I loved seeing your day in the life. 🙂

    1. Thank you for stopping in Tanya! This week is nutso but I am hoping that it calms down next week and as we get closer to summer. 🙂 Have a great day my friend!

  5. LOVE these posts! I cannot believe that you wake up at 4:30 every day. Goodness gracious, I WISH I was a morning person, but I just can’t make myself be no matter how hard I try. Also, you are the second person today to mention the Little House books in your post! I had the entire set of Laura Ingalls Wilder books growing up and Little House in the Big Woods was my very favorite! I always thought it would be so cool to live back then. I read and reread all of those books countless times and I even saved them to give to a daughter if I ever had one. I hope Olivia will love them as much as I did!

    1. I saw that Beth had also mentioned the books in her post today too! I kept my set too so hopefully Maddi will pick them up soon and start reading them. 🙂 And I agree with you, Little House in the Big Woods was hands down my favorite too! A group of friends and I used to play like we were pioneers. Ha! Did you watch the show? I used to watch Little House on the Prairie every day before school. It was also my favorite.

  6. I always love your “day in the life post”! I wish had productive mornings like you. I may get up early but I don’t think I accomplish anything but getting my kids out the door for school, lol!!

    1. Getting kids out the door for school is HUGE! I swear it is seriously a whirlwind and stressful no matter how much I prepare for it each day. For instance, yesterday Maddi forgot her glasses. She needs her glasses to read and see (hello bifocals) and it was the reading portion of her state testing. Her teacher called my classroom right after school began and I had to run home real quick and grab them. Such a fail! Hahahahaha!

  7. Oh my goodness you were a busy gal. That’s how I clean my bathroom, I am sitting there washing my face or what not and I am like oh I need to clean it right now ;). Those meetings can be so long but you are such an amazing teacher :). You are an early riser and I am a late to bed gal :)! xoxo ERIN

    1. Maddi could easily stay up all night if I let her. I cannot hang past 10 and that is really pushing it for me! 🙂 I find the most random cleaning tasks sometimes. I swear I have ADD sometimes.

    1. I love getting stuff done and having quiet time before the kids wake up. However, you better believe that on Saturday and Sunday I sleep in as long as I can. 🙂 I don’t like feeling rushed in the mornings before school and long for summer break when I can turn on The Today Show or Kelly and drink my coffee.
