Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap…Slowin’ it Down Edition

We had a two week break of meetings, practices, appointments, and anything else that happens after work and school. Two glorious weeks. now we are back to the hustle and bustle of four different soccer practices a week, games, and a play practice, as well as meetings and appointments for Brandon and I. I know that I will miss these busy days of shuttling kids around one day (sooner than I would like) so I am going to try to enjoy them. Even if the next two months sound and look a little crazy. This weekend we slowed it down and it was so wonderful…

On Friday I ate lunch with Guy. It was Dr. Suess’s Birthday and parents could eat lunch with their students. It was also pajama day so we were extra comfy.

Friday afternoon Maddi had her first soccer practice of the spring season. I cannot wait to watch her play this season. She was really confident during practice which was really great to see. She was pretty timid this fall.

Brandon and I have been working hard on a landscaping project this week and I came home from soccer practice just in time to help spread the last two bags of mulch. It was a warmer evening so we enjoyed spending it outside. Some of our neighbor kiddos came over and all the kids jumped on the trampoline. It was a great way to end a Friday.

Saturday morning was spent running errands and getting all the groceries. Costco is my favorite place to get produce.

We got home in the early afternoon, made some lunch and then it started raining…which turned to snow…which then turned the largest snowflakes I have ever seen. My cousin received 13″ of snow in a matter of hours. It was insane and not very march-like.

Since it was snowy and yucky I snuggled up in a blanket and spend my afternoon reading.

My parents took the kids for the night and we went out to Mexican food! It was so YUMMY! I have not been out to eat in a while and this was a good treat.

Sunday morning we did not wake up until 9:00! 9:00!!! What-the-what? I am such a morning person and love getting up early but I woke up at 6:00 and thought “nope, not getting up” and went back to sleep and didn’t wake up until 9:00. It was wonderful.

The snow was already starting to melt, but I had to capture a picture because snow in March is pretty much unheard of around here.

Brandon and I spent the morning cleaning, doing chores, and drinking coffee. It was so nice. We watched some Fixer Upper and headed to parents for a family dinner.

I love spending time with my family. My grandparents and two uncles were also at dinner with us.

The kids set up their own little snack stands to con make some money.

My mom also had the International Delights latte cans. I tried one. My mom and I had the same feelings toward them, not the best lattes you will ever have. It was like flavored whipped cream.

It was a fun and relaxing weekend full of family. I hope you had a good weekend. I also hope you have a great Monday and a good start to your week.

  1. I found that I like the latte cans better if I put a tiny bit of creamer in first then add some of the stuff. Probably defeats the purpose but they do last longer that way and I get a more complex flavor too. I can’t believe y’all still have snow falling. We didn’t get a single inch this year.

    1. Good tip for the latte. I am going to pass that along to my mom too. The snow this year is crazy. I hope that was the end of it. Fingers crossed! 🙂 Happy Monday Beth!

  2. What a nice weekend! That is crazy that you guys are still getting snow. I am so ready for warmer weather. I bought the latte product and thought the same thing. It was a nice treat but not my favorite. Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

    1. We never really get snow in March, usually just December or early January…and maybe an inch that goes away after one day. This is just craziness! On a positive, it made for a really relaxing weekend 🙂 Have a great Monday!

  3. What an awesome weekend! I love low key weekends~~
Happy Monday! I love that the kids set up “snack” stations! Ella loves doing that too and she will “con” her grandparents and uncle out of some big bucks! HAHA

    1. I cannot believe that they literally made money off of selling oranges and apples that were in water with cinnamon. YUCK! Hahahaha! Way to sell it kiddos! Happy Monday!

  4. I’m with Beth too, I didn’t love the latte cream like you but it was better if you put a little creamer and first, ha ha. Your mulch looks so good! Cutest lil snack stations and yay to a laid back weekend before the busy! Happy Monday beautiful lady!

    1. Andrea, I am going to take yours and Beth’s advice about the creamer next time. I did love how it frothed it up, but then bland. Thanks for dropping by! Have a wonderful week!

  5. I am cracking up on their snack stands! That so something I would have done as a child! I love mornings like that when sleeping in actually works out. Glorious sleep!

  6. It truly has been the most random winter weather this year….we had severe thunderstorms last night and a chance of snow this weekend. I used to think it would be fun to have warm weather one day and cold the next but fantasy is better than reality 🙂 xoxo ERIN

    1. It has been such a strange winter. We usually get a couple days of snow but not months worth…and snow in March is almost unheard of. Ohwell, it was a great excuse to have a cozy weekend and curl up with a book. I will take that anytime! 🙂
