Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap

Good Monday morning! This weekend was just what I needed after a full week back after Thanksgiving. Friday afternoon we went Christmas shopping (for some cousins) and then grocery shopping together. We got home around 7:00 and were so wiped out that we all ate dinner in the living room and watched the Huskies beat the Buffs. I may or may not have fallen asleep on the couch during the game.

Saturday morning brought the candle sale at Bath and Body Works. You guys, this picture cracks me up because they were obviously loving it as much as I was! Hahahaha!

Next, we ran some errands as a family and came home in time to take a little rest and get ready for our first round of Christmas. I made these appetizers. I know what this picture looks like, but trust me, they taste WAY better than my i-phone photography skills (or possibly anyone’s photo skills). Brandon’s aunt makes these. It is cocktail rye bread, toasted. And you top it with one pound of hamburger (drained), one pound of sausage (Jimmy Dean Original, drained) and one pound of velveeta.

We went and Christmased with my aunt and uncles and cousins on my Dad’s side of the family. It was a lot of fun. We had a Christmas trivia contest and I won $5 on a lotto ticket (my aunt handed them out as prizes for correct answers, I thought that was a really cute and fun idea).

On Sunday morning the kid’s decorated a gingerbread house all on their own.

I would say they nailed it.

I also watched The Holiday for the first time. Ever. What a great movie.

After dinner I stuffed and addressed all the Christmas cards.

We watched the Seahawks win. WHOOP WHOOP!

And just like that, it is Monday morning. I hope you have a great day and a great start to your week. Thank you for stopping by today.

  1. Bha ha ha, look at all those candles! I love the candle sale! I did my Christmas cards last night too and it’s such an accomplished feeling when they’re done and the last stamp is on! I don’t know about you but I’m loving this holiday season so much and I want it to slow down. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead beautiful lady!

    1. Hi Andrea, I love getting them mailed. What a sigh of relief. I want the holidays to slow down too, it is going so fast, only two more weekends before the big one. We still have so much to do to celebrate and I don’t want to miss a thing. Have a wonderful week!

  2. Oh, Jenna! Did you see my Candle Day picture on Instagram? My husband was a trooper, too. Thank goodness I didn’t have my kids with me. We (meaning my husband, because I left him to do more shopping) waited in line 45 minutes. It was CRAZY!!! I am definitely ordering online next year.
I am really intrigued by that appetizer. Where do you find rye cocktail bread? Is is little, like bite size?
Hope you have a great week!!

    1. Gotta love those husbands! I cannot believe the line was 45 minutes long. We got to our local store a little after they opened and it was not too packed but people were going crazy. Like 4 crates full of candles. Hahahaha. I do LOVE stocking up on candles though 🙂 I found the cocktail bread where they sell the oils and vinegar by the deli. Yes, they are little slices of bread and they are wonderful for little toasts and appetizers. 🙂 They make sourdough and pumpernickel as well.
